LIFT PRODUCED BY HELIUM-FILLED BALLOONS

The following tables provide a rough approximation of how much helium is required for a balloon to lift a given payload. It is recommended to have a total lift weight of 2 lb. (1 kg) plus the total weight of the payload in order to control the ascent speed. In addition you will find the recommended diameter for each type of balloon, use this to determine the about of helium required for flights.

NOTE: The recommendation provided above ONLY corresponds to the approximate amount of helium needed when filling the balloon. Use the information provided in the instructions to determine the spring scale reading when filling the balloon, not the instructions for helium filling listed above.
